Yesterday around noon, Nate Lawrence rolled up the warehouse gate, holding a brand new Santa Cruz complete, staring dead at our mini ramp. After a couple hugs and hi fives, he went straight for the ramp and dusted it for an hour. Feebles. Rock and rolls. Disasters. Nate Dawg shit. Then he walked over, plugged in his hard drive and started showing us the gold nuggets he'd collected over the last few weeks.
Jack Freestone (pictured above), Noa Deane, Mitch Coleborn, Chippa Wilson, Brendon Gibbens, Oliver Kurtz, Taj Burrow, Garut Widarta, Wade Goodall, Dion Agius and tons more. Just buckets of rad imagery for What Youth Issue 6 and beyond. We'll start unveiling some of the shots here over the next week or two, just to get you in the mood.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Nate, he's responsible for the majority of the imagery you see on our site, in our mag, on our Instagram @whatyouth and beyond. He spends half his year in Bali and the other half in California. He prefers to only surf if he's getting barreled in trunks — and does that exclusively. He shreds at skating and can hold a drink now and then.
It was lovely to have him back from his second home in Bali and we're already itching to hit the road for somewhere new. He'll be settling into his California home for a few days but we're out of here. No place like the road. [...]
